The Flo-Form® Positioner is a non-powered fluidized medium that maximizes contouring and support, redistributes pressure across a larger surface area, and promotes effective patient positioning with neutral spine and limb alignment.
Flo-Form fluidized positioning devices (FPDs) are comprised of lubricated microspheres, giving them the ability to three-dimensionally contour the patient’s specific shape – and hold that shape until remolded.
FPDs can be used for both adult and neonatal positioning. FPDs are developed in partnership with Spry Therapeutics.

Flo-Form Positioner for pressure injury prevention and infection control
Flo-Form can be molded to any shape and will hold its form until it is remolded. Because of this unique characteristic, Flo-Form is an excellent medium for patient positioning and pressure redistribution.
Fluidized positioning devices three-dimensionally contour to the patient’s specific shape – and hold that shape until remolded.
FPDs can be used for both adult and neonatal positioning.
Flo-Form helps to protect the skin, promote neutral body alignment, and encourage healthier development of fragile neonatal patients.
Here are some examples of the Flo-Form Positioner in use
Flo-Form positioner application
The Flo-Form Positioner effectively redistributes pressure over a greater surface area and promotes neutral spine and limb alignment. The positioner is moldable and can be adjusted to accommodate each patient’s unique clinical needs.
Flo-Form positioners are available for head positioning, body positioning, and developmental positioning.
Flo-Form NICU Positioners
Flo-Form® technology allows neonatal positioners to be micro-contoured for each patient’s unique medical needs. Flo-Form also helps to protect the skin, promote neutral body alignment, and encourage healthier development of fragile neonatal patients.
For head positioning
- Redistributes pressure to protect the skin
- Helps reduce lateral skull flattening
- Promotes neutral head/trunk alignment
- Facilitates tube/line management
- Recommended for single patient use
For body positioning
- Creates a soft outer boundary to support a flexed, midline position
- Helps maintain neutral body alignment and positive airway
- Encourages normal musculoskeletal and neuromotor development
- Recommended for single patient use
Flo-Form Positioners
For head positioning
- Supports the neck and shoulders to offload the occiput
- Protects the ears, nose, and face against shear and friction
- Supports the cervical spine
- Promotes neutral spine alignment
- Facilitates tube/line management
For body positioning
- Contours and supports the body to offload the scapula and sacrum
- Maintains therapeutic positioning
- Promotes neutral body alignment
- Facilitates tube/line management
Flo-Form Positioner filling material
The Flo-Form Positioner uses a fluidized medium that maximizes contouring and support. The product is designed to aid in providing developmental positioning for neonatal patients while redistributing pressure on sensitive skin.
Flo-Form positioners can be used safely long-term with correct cleaning and disinfection protocols.
- The Flo-Form positioner is a cleanable and reusable product.
- Disinfect by wiping the casing with a hospital-approved disinfectant. Allow to dry.
- After disinfection, wipe it down using a clean cloth moistened with clean water.
- Allow positioner to dry fully before use.
- Straight bleaching, scrubbing, machine washing, tumble drying, and autoclaving are not recommended.
- The disposable cover is single patient use and should be discarded appropriately.
